The Story of the TRX650FG (Rincon)

This Honda TRX650FG was the GPS-equipped Rincon variant introduced for the 2004 model year and sold through 2005. It belonged to Honda’s Rincon 650 ATV family, which had already established itself as the brand’s premium full-size utility machine. The FG designation distinguished the GPSCAPE version from the standard Rincon, adding a navigation-focused instrument setup that was aimed at riders who used the ATV for trail exploration, backcountry work, and long-distance utility riding.

The Rincon line was notable within Honda’s ATV range because it sat at the top of the utility lineup and emphasized a more refined, car-like riding experience than typical work-oriented quads. The 650 generation used Honda’s distinctive automatic driveline philosophy and was marketed as a comfortable, capable all-terrain machine rather than a stripped-down farm or ranch vehicle. The GPS variant reflected that positioning, giving the model a more adventure-oriented identity and making it appealing to owners who wanted navigation support built into the machine itself.

For 2006, Honda replaced the 650-era Rincon with the larger-displacement TRX680 family, which effectively ended the TRX650FG nameplate after the 2005 model year. As a result, the TRX650FG is remembered as a short-lived but interesting chapter in Honda’s Rincon history: a specialized, GPS-equipped off-road utility ATV from the final years of the original 650 platform.
