MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Voyager 1300

This nameplate was introduced for the 1983 model year as Kawasaki’s full-dress touring version of its large inline-six platform. It was developed from the earlier six-cylinder touring machines and positioned as an unusually lavish long-distance motorcycle for the era, with integrated wind protection, luggage, and comfort features aimed at American-style touring. The model remained on sale through the 1988 model year, after which Kawasaki moved on to the smaller Voyager XII line. Enthusiasts remember it as one of the boldest and most extravagant touring motorcycles of the 1980s, notable for combining a large six-cylinder engine with extensive touring equipment and a very imposing road presence.
