Introduced for the 1995 model year, this Kawasaki youth motocross machine was created as a bridge between the smaller mini-moto class and a full-size race bike. It quickly became an important step-up model in Kawasaki’s off-road lineup, aimed at young riders who had outgrown the smaller 85cc class but were not yet ready for a larger motocross machine. Kawasaki’s own current KX family materials continue to position it within the brand’s championship-oriented youth racing range, alongside the smaller KX65 and KX85 models, showing that the nameplate remains part of the modern KX lineup. Official Kawasaki parts and owner-center records also document the model back to 1995, confirming its mid-1990s introduction. Over time, it has earned a reputation as a practical transition bike for amateur motocross riders and a familiar part of Kawasaki’s Team Green pipeline, which has long supported developing racers. Unlike some nameplates that disappear and later return, this one appears to have maintained a continuous presence since its debut, evolving within the same basic youth-race role rather than being revived as a separate new model.
