It arrived as part of Kawasaki’s Z lineage and used a proven air/oil-cooled inline-four formula that gave the bike a familiar, easygoing character and made it appealing to riders who wanted a dependable everyday roadster with a traditional feel.
The model’s life cycle was relatively short and uncomplicated. Kawasaki gave it only light updates during its run, while a half-faired companion model joined the range in the early 2000s for riders who wanted a little more wind protection.
