MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the PCX150

Honda introduced this scooter nameplate for the 2012 model year as a larger-displacement derivative of the original PCX, expanding the global PCX family beyond the 125cc version. The new 150cc-class model was positioned as a premium urban commuter: compact enough for crowded city use, but with the extra highway flexibility and long-legged character that many riders wanted from the original concept. Honda continued to develop it as part of the broader PCX line rather than treating it as a separate machine, so its identity stayed closely tied to the family’s practical, upscale scooter formula.

In 2014, the model was updated alongside the rest of the PCX range, reflecting Honda’s effort to keep the scooter fresh in key markets without changing its basic mission. A more significant redesign arrived for the 2018 model year, when the PCX family moved to a new chassis architecture and a more modern overall look. That generation marked the model’s transition from a simple commuter to one of Honda’s more polished small scooters, especially in markets that valued style, storage, and everyday convenience.

The final major chapter came with the 2021 redesign, when Honda replaced the 150cc version in some markets with the larger-displacement PCX160. In Honda’s U.S. lineup, the 150 nameplate remained through the 2022 model year before being superseded. The result is a nameplate that ran through one continuous production period, spanning the early 2010s through the early 2020s, and helping establish the PCX family as one of Honda’s most recognizable modern scooter lines.
