This touring nameplate was introduced for the 2015 model year as a lowered version of Harley-Davidson’s long-running Electra Glide Ultra Classic, aimed at riders who wanted the full dress-touring experience in a more confidence-inspiring package. It kept the familiar Batwing-fairing, hard-bag, Tour-Pak formula that defined Harley-Davidson’s premium long-distance touring motorcycles, but paired that with a lower chassis and reduced reach to the controls so the bike would be easier to manage at a stop and while maneuvering at low speeds.
The model fit into the brand’s Project RUSHMORE era, when Harley-Davidson was updating its big touring motorcycles with a stronger emphasis on rider comfort, infotainment, lighting, braking and overall ergonomics. In 2015 and 2016, the lowered version was offered alongside the standard Ultra Classic, including a Twin-Cooled variant in the same family. It was positioned as a premium full-size tourer for riders who wanted the amenities and road presence of the Electra Glide line without the taller seat height and more stretched-out fit of the standard model.
For 2016, the machine remained in the lineup, but the nameplate did not continue beyond that short run. It was later effectively superseded in Harley-Davidson’s lower-seat touring strategy by the Ultra Limited Low, leaving this nameplate as a brief but notable chapter in the company’s modern touring history.
