The Super Glide Custom was Harley-Davidson’s chrome-laden take on the Dyna family, positioned as a more dressed-up, cruiser-oriented version of the standard Super Glide. It appeared for the 2005 model year as the FXDC, and it built on the Dyna chassis that had become known for combining Harley’s Big Twin character with a more manageable, mid-size footprint. Within the lineup, it sat below the more aggressively styled or performance-focused Dyna variants and above the stripped-back bobber direction that would later become more prominent in the family.
As the name suggests, the model kept the Super Glide lineage visible while adding a more custom, factory-finished look. Over the years, Harley-Davidson used the FXDC to emphasize a classic American custom aesthetic: plenty of brightwork, a more relaxed riding stance, and a general showroom-custom feel without requiring aftermarket changes. That made it a popular choice for riders who wanted the traditional Dyna experience but preferred a cleaner, more personalized appearance from the factory.
The model remained in Harley-Davidson’s Dyna catalog through the 2014 model year. It does not appear in the 2015 Dyna model listings, indicating that its continuous production run ended after 2014. In that sense, the Super Glide Custom represents one of the better-known late-era Dyna nameplates: a long-running, middleweight Big Twin cruiser that bridged Harley’s classic Super Glide heritage with the more accessorized custom look that defined much of the brand’s appeal in the 2000s and early 2010s.
