MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Fat Boy Lo 103

This Harley-Davidson Softail variant was introduced for the 2010 model year as a lower-slung take on the Fat Boy formula, aimed at riders who wanted the same broad-shouldered cruiser look with a reduced seat height and a more relaxed stance. It used the Softail chassis and shared the family’s classic fat-tire, heavily styled cruiser identity, but with a distinct low-profile riding position that set it apart from the standard Fat Boy. The model was offered across multiple model years through the 2010s and remained part of the Softail lineup until the platform was reshaped for 2018, when Harley-Davidson moved to a new generation of Softail models and this nameplate ended. Within Harley-Davidson history, it is remembered as a bridge between the traditional Twin Cam-era Softail cruisers and the later redesigned family, and as one of the more recognizable factory low-seat heavyweight cruisers of its era.
