This bobber-style Dyna entered Harley-Davidson’s lineup for the 2006 model year as a stripped-down factory custom built around the Dyna chassis. It was conceived as a minimalist, blacked-out cruiser with chopped bodywork, solo-rider attitude, and an intentionally simple look that echoed earlier custom and chopper themes. Harley-Davidson’s own historical materials identify 2006 as the first year of the nameplate, and model-code references show the FXDB Street Bob running through the 2017 model year. The motorcycle became one of the best-known members of the Dyna family because it distilled the platform into a leaner, more basic package than the other Dyna variants. In Harley-Davidson’s lineup history, the model remained part of the Dyna range until the Dyna family ended after 2017, when the Street Bob name continued on the company’s later Softail platform under a different model code and chassis. This means the FXDB / Dyna Street Bob is best understood as the original Dyna-era Street Bob, produced in one continuous run from 2006 through 2017.
