Harley-Davidson introduced the Heritage Springer as a nostalgic Softail variant for the 1997 model year, pairing the brand’s classic springer front end with retro styling cues aimed at riders who wanted a factory-built throwback motorcycle. It was offered in the Softail family and quickly became one of the most distinctive bikes in the lineup because of its period-inspired appearance and strong link to Harley-Davidson’s earlier postwar design language. The model also had an EFI version, identified as FLSTSI, alongside the carbureted FLSTS. Harley-Davidson kept the Heritage Springer in production through the 2003 model year, after which it was discontinued. That single run made it a relatively short-lived but memorable chapter in the company’s Softail history, and it remains notable among enthusiasts as the factory’s modern interpretation of the traditional springer-equipped cruiser.
