The BMW 850Ci was BMW’s V12 grand touring coupe in the original E31 8 Series, and it grew out of the earlier 850i rather than replacing it with a clean-sheet redesign. BMW renamed the car to 850Ci in 1992 as part of a model update that initially left the engine and output unchanged. Production ran from 1992 through 1999, and the 850Ci is remembered as one of BMW’s most distinctive 1990s coupes: long, low, heavily engineered, and positioned at the upper end of the brand’s prestige and performance offerings.
