Introduced for the 2020 model year, this two-row midsize SUV was created as a sportier, five-seat companion to the three-row Atlas. It brought the same basic family hardware and practical packaging to a lower, more coupe-like body style aimed at buyers who wanted Atlas space and road presence without the third row. The nameplate was previewed by a concept before reaching production, and the production version arrived in the U.S. market in late 2019 as a Chattanooga-built model designed specifically for North American customers.
From the start, the vehicle was positioned as a more stylish derivative rather than a separate platform exercise. Its fastback roofline, shorter rear body, and tailored exterior details gave it a different personality from the standard Atlas while still sharing the same midsize-SUV mission. For 2024, the model received a substantial refresh that sharpened its design and updated its interior technology and comfort features. That facelift helped keep the nameplate aligned with the brand’s newer SUV family language while preserving the core concept of a stylish, five-passenger Atlas variant. As a result, it has become the dedicated two-row member of the Atlas family rather than a short-lived special edition or trim package.
