Triumph first used this nameplate in 1994, when the Tiger 900 joined the brand’s growing adventure lineup during the Hinckley era. That original model belonged to the early generation of Triumph triples and helped establish the company in the dual-purpose and adventure-touring space. After that first production period ended, the nameplate disappeared for many years. Triumph then revived it as an all-new motorcycle launched in December 2019 for the 2020 model year, moving the Tiger 900 into the modern middleweight adventure class with a completely updated design and a new family structure focused on road and off-road use. The current-era model is therefore best understood as a revival of a long-dormant Triumph name rather than a continuous carryover from the 1990s, even though it carries the same familiar Tiger 900 badge.
