MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Scrambler 1200 XC

This modern Triumph Scrambler nameplate was introduced for the 2019 model year as part of the brand’s revived 1200cc Scrambler family. It carried forward the classic high-mounted exhaust, upright stance, and all-road character associated with the Scrambler idea, but packaged them in a thoroughly contemporary chassis and electronics suite aimed at riders who wanted retro style with real off-road ability. The XC sat in the range as the more accessible counterpart to the more extreme XE, balancing everyday road use with genuine trail capability.

From the start, the model stood out for blending Triumph’s Bonneville-derived twin-cylinder character with adventure-bike hardware such as a 21-inch front wheel, long-travel suspension, Brembo brakes, and rider aids that gave it a broader range than earlier air-cooled Scrambler models. That combination helped establish the bike as one of Triumph’s most credible modern classics and made it a prominent part of the company’s Scrambler revival.

The XC continued through the 2023 model year. Triumph then reworked the range for 2024, replacing the XC with the new Scrambler 1200 X while keeping the larger-capacity Scrambler 1200 lineage alive in updated form. As a result, this nameplate had one continuous production run from its introduction through the 2023 model year.
