MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Speed Triple 1050

This naked performance roadster first appeared for the 2005 model year as Triumph’s larger-displacement successor to the earlier Speed Triple, replacing the 955cc era with a 1050cc triple and sharpening the brand’s original factory-streetfighter formula. Over the years it became one of Triumph’s signature modern roadsters, known for its minimalist stance, aggressive attitude, and the distinctive twin-headlight look that helped define the model family. The 1050cc version was continually evolved rather than reinvented, with major updates to the engine, chassis, and electronics across successive generations, and it later carried on in S and RS forms. The 1050cc run came to an end when Triumph moved the nameplate to the larger 1200cc generation for model year 2021, making the 1050 the final version of the classic big-triple Speed Triple era.
