This nameplate was introduced for the 2007 model year as Suzuki’s updated large-displacement Bandit, replacing the older air/oil-cooled formula with a new liquid-cooled inline-four and positioning the bike as a practical, torque-rich street machine with sport-touring capability. The S version added the half-faired, more weather-protective character that helped define the model’s identity, blending everyday usability with a tougher, more substantial presence than a pure supersport machine.
Over the years, the model evolved mainly through equipment and bodywork updates rather than a complete reinvention. Suzuki kept the focus on strong midrange performance, relaxed highway comfort, and long-distance versatility, which made it appealing to riders who wanted a big motorcycle that was easier to live with than a fully race-oriented bike. A later update broadened the fairing treatment and reinforced its sport-touring intent, while preserving the familiar Bandit formula.
In several markets, the bike remained a recognizable holdover from an earlier era of Suzuki roadsters: simple, durable, and focused on usable power instead of peak-output bragging rights. The model was still offered for the 2016 model year, after which the Bandit 1250S nameplate was discontinued. It is remembered as one of the final and most developed versions of Suzuki’s long-running Bandit family, bridging the gap between the classic naked Bandit character and the more fully faired sport-touring bikes that followed.
