MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Voyager

This Plymouth nameplate first appeared for the 1974 model year on a full-size van, part of Plymouth’s short-lived light-truck lineup of the 1970s. After the full-size version ended, the Voyager name returned a decade later on Chrysler’s all-new front-wheel-drive minivan for the 1984 model year, sharing the pioneering Chrysler minivan program that helped define the modern family van segment. Through the late 1980s and 1990s, it remained Plymouth’s entry in the minivan market, with the line eventually expanding into longer-wheelbase Grand Voyager versions. The nameplate’s history is therefore split between two distinct production eras rather than one continuous run, with the Plymouth-badged minivan continuing until the division was discontinued after 2000.
