In 1971, the name was revived for a full-size station wagon, launching the best-known chapter of the story and giving the brand a wagon that sat above its mainstream family haulers. The early-1970s version was especially notable for its large size, upscale fittings, and distinctive clamshell-style tailgate arrangement. The wagon continued through the downsized late-1970s and 1980s full-size GM era, evolving alongside the company’s rear-wheel-drive B-body platform.
