Introduced for the 1990 model year, this was Oldsmobile’s entry into the emerging front-wheel-drive minivan segment and was positioned as the division’s upscale family hauler. It shared its basic GM U-body roots with the contemporary Chevrolet Lumina APV and Pontiac Trans Sport, but Oldsmobile gave it a more premium appearance and feature content to suit the brand’s traditionally more refined market image. The original version was built through 1996, when GM’s first-generation U-body minivans were phased out. A fully redesigned second generation arrived for 1997 with more conventional styling and a more mainstream van profile, while remaining Oldsmobile’s most distinctive people mover. Over the years it became one of the best-known Oldsmobile nameplates of the 1990s, especially for buyers who wanted a minivan with a more upscale badge and a slightly more personal, less utilitarian character. Production continued until the 2004 model year, which also marked the end of the Oldsmobile brand itself.
