Cutlass

The nameplate began in 1961 as a sporty Cutlass version of Oldsmobile’s compact F-85, then quickly grew beyond a trim-level identity into one of the division’s core mid-size offerings. Through the 1960s and 1970s, it became one of Oldsmobile’s most familiar badges, spanning coupes, sedans, wagons, and performance-oriented variants such as the 4-4-2 and Supreme. As GM downsized its intermediates and then shifted the line to front-wheel-drive architectures in the 1980s and 1990s, the Cutlass name was carried forward on several different Oldsmobile cars, reflecting the badge’s long-running market value rather than a single body style. The final use of the nameplate ended with the 1999 model year, closing nearly four decades of continuous Oldsmobile Cutlass history.
