This V12 flagship marked a new chapter for Lamborghini in the early Audi era. It was unveiled in 2001 and named after a celebrated fighting bull, continuing the brand’s long tradition of using bull-related names. As the successor to the Diablo, it arrived as a clean-sheet supercar and quickly became the centerpiece of the company’s lineup for the 2000s. The original coupe introduced the modern interpretation of the classic rear-mid-engine V12 formula that had defined the company’s greatest halo cars, but with updated engineering, stronger build quality, and a more refined overall character than its predecessor. Over time, the line expanded through important derivatives and updates, including the open-top Roadster and later performance-focused evolutions such as the LP 640 and the track-oriented LP 670-4 SV. Those later versions kept the same basic identity while sharpening the car’s design, dynamics, and visual drama. The nameplate ended its run in 2010, closing the book on the company’s last naturally aspirated V12 flagship before the Aventador arrived the following year. Among enthusiasts, it is remembered as a turning point: the first major supercar of Lamborghini’s modern era, and one of the defining Italian V12 exotics of its generation.
