KTM’s LC8-powered supermoto line first appeared for the 2005 model year, when the company brought its large-capacity V-twin into a more street-focused supermoto chassis. The early 950 version established the formula: a lightweight, aggressive, road-legal interpretation of KTM’s dirt-bike attitude, aimed at riders who wanted supermoto agility with far more engine character and highway ability than a single-cylinder machine could offer. In KTM’s own model and parts references, the nameplate then evolved into 990-displacement variants across multiple trims, including more road-biased and more performance-oriented versions. That progression kept the same basic concept in production through the 2013 model year. The line is remembered as one of KTM’s signature early LC8 road bikes, helping define the brand’s distinctive take on big-bore supermoto before the model family was discontinued.
