MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the TRX520

Honda’s TRX520 nameplate covers the modern FourTrax Foreman Rubicon 4x4 family, which first appeared for the 2020 model year. It represents the continuation of Honda’s long-running Rubicon utility-ATV line, but with the later 518cc platform and updated model structure that replaced the earlier TRX500-era machine in Honda’s lineup. From the start, the TRX520 family was positioned as a premium rugged utility ATV aimed at riders who wanted a work-focused machine with more comfort and convenience features than a basic farm ATV, while still preserving Honda’s reputation for durability and low-maintenance ownership.

The TRX520 family has been offered in multiple versions, including manual-shift and automatic DCT variants, with available electric power steering and higher-spec deluxe trims depending on model year. The core identity of the line has remained consistent: a compact but capable 4x4 utility ATV designed for trail work, property use, and demanding off-road tasks. Honda has continued to refine the family through annual updates rather than replacing it outright, so this nameplate remains part of Honda’s current powersports lineup. Earlier Honda Rubicon history dates back to the original FourTrax Rubicon introduction in 2000, but the TRX520 designation itself begins with the 2020 model year.
