Honda’s ST1300A was the ABS-equipped version of Honda’s long-distance sport-touring motorcycle line for the U.S. market. It arrived for the 2003 model year as an all-new replacement for the ST1100 era, bringing a more modern chassis, fuel-injected V4 powertrain, improved wind protection, and the kind of integrated touring features that made the ST family a favorite among riders who wanted a fast highway machine with real all-day comfort. The nameplate was sold alongside the non-ABS ST1300 in some markets, but the A suffix identified the ABS-equipped version in Honda’s North American lineup.
The model remained a familiar part of Honda’s touring range through the 2000s and into the early 2010s, with 2014 model-year certification data still listing the ST1300A. In Honda’s broader motorcycle history, the ST1300 line is remembered as one of the company’s most respected sport-tourers: a big, shaft-driven, fully faired motorcycle designed to cover distance quickly while still feeling stable and manageable in everyday riding. It earned a strong reputation with commuting, touring and police-service riders for durability, weather protection and smooth long-haul character.
By the mid-2010s, Honda’s touring lineup shifted toward newer models, and the ST1300A nameplate faded from the U.S. range after the 2014 model year. For many enthusiasts, it stands as one of Honda’s last classic big-displacement sport-tourers before the market moved toward different touring concepts and powertrain strategies.
