Honda first used the TRX250X nameplate on its 250-class sport ATV in the late 1980s, when the FourTrax 250X was offered as a nimble, rider-focused machine aimed at recreational trail and sport use. That original run lasted through the early 1990s before the nameplate disappeared from the lineup. Honda later revived the TRX250X name in the 2009 model year, this time on a modern sport ATV that carried the familiar 250-class mission forward with updated chassis and convenience features for newer riders and families. The revived TRX250X has remained part of Honda’s sport-ATV range in the years since, and it is best understood as a two-period nameplate: an original 1987-1992 era and a later 2009-present revival. Over time, Honda has positioned it as an approachable sport quad with easy-to-use controls and the brand’s emphasis on durability and rider confidence, rather than as a high-strung race model.
