MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the CBF600

Introduced for the 2004 model year, this middleweight Honda nameplate was created as a practical, everyday road bike with broad appeal rather than a pure sport machine. It arrived in Europe as part of Honda’s push to offer approachable, versatile motorcycles built around a familiar 600-class formula: a compact inline-four engine, neutral chassis geometry, and a riding position intended to be comfortable for commuting, touring, and weekend use. The line was offered in both naked and half-faired forms, helping it cover a wide slice of the middleweight market.

The model gained a reputation as a sensible all-rounder with Honda refinement, predictable handling, and enough performance to satisfy riders moving up from smaller machines. In 2008 it received a notable update, including revised styling and mechanical changes that kept it competitive in the European market while preserving its reputation as an easygoing, user-friendly motorcycle. Honda positioned it as a versatile roadster/sports-tourer alternative to more aggressive 600s, and it became especially popular with riders who wanted real-world usability over track-focused intent.

Production continued as a single uninterrupted run through the 2013 model year. After that, Honda shifted its European middleweight strategy toward newer 650-class machines, and this nameplate was phased out rather than carried forward. As a result, it is remembered as one of Honda’s most recognizable and approachable 600cc European road models of the 2000s and early 2010s.
