Honda’s Transalp adventure-touring nameplate first appeared in 1986 with the XL600V, a middleweight dual-purpose motorcycle aimed at riders who wanted real road comfort without giving up dirt-road capability. Honda’s own history describes it as a practical all-rounder with a fairing for high-speed comfort, and the line later evolved through the XL650V and XL700V eras as the concept matured for larger-displacement touring use. After the XL700V generation, the nameplate disappeared from Honda’s lineup for a time. Honda revived it in 2023 with the XL750, bringing the Transalp back as a new-generation adventure model that reinterprets the original idea for modern touring, commuting, and light off-road riding. Because the nameplate returned after a production gap, the model has multiple separate production periods rather than one continuous run.
