MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the VFR750F

This nameplate arrived in 1986 as Honda’s successor to the VF750F, bringing the company’s V4 sport-bike concept into a more refined and durable package. The model quickly earned a reputation for combining smooth power delivery with stable, long-distance-friendly handling, which made it appealing not only to sport riders but also to owners who wanted a fast all-round motorcycle with touring ability.

Honda’s own history materials identify the original version as the first-generation VFR750F and note that the line evolved through several major updates over its life. The early RC24-era motorcycles established the model’s identity, while the 1990 redesign moved the bike into a more compact, more sophisticated phase with a revised chassis and the single-sided Pro-Arm rear suspension, a feature that became closely associated with the VFR family. Across these updates, the model stayed focused on road use rather than pure racing, and it developed a strong enthusiast following for its balance of performance, comfort, and engineering character.

The nameplate remained in production through the 1997 model year, after which Honda shifted to the VFR800 for 1998. Because the VFR750F ran as one continuous production period and then gave way to a different displacement nameplate, there is no separate revival or second run for this exact model designation.
