MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the PCX125

Introduced in 2010, this small-capacity scooter was developed as a global commuter model aimed at balancing everyday practicality with a more upscale, modern presentation than many traditional city scooters. It was conceived for multiple markets from the outset, with a common basic package shared across regions and production initially centered in Thailand before manufacturing later expanded within Honda’s broader Asian network. Early versions established the model’s identity with a compact but refined chassis, large-diameter wheels for stable urban riding, fuel-injection technology, and an idling-stop system that helped it stand out in the class as an efficient, easy-to-live-with scooter.

The nameplate quickly became one of Honda’s most important worldwide scooter lines, finding success in Japan, Europe, the United States and several Asian markets. Over time it was repeatedly updated rather than replaced, with major revisions in 2012, 2014, and 2021 bringing new engine generations, fresh bodywork, and improved comfort and practicality. Those updates helped keep the model aligned with changing emissions standards and commuter expectations while preserving its core role as a stylish, premium-leaning urban runabout.

It has remained in production as a continuously evolving global scooter line, and it is especially notable for helping define Honda’s modern approach to practical premium scooters.
