MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the CB599

This North American Honda naked middleweight was introduced for the 2004 model year as the imported U.S. and Canadian version of Honda’s European Hornet 600. Honda’s launch announcement described it as the “599” and noted that it began arriving in North America in October 2003 for the 2004 model year. Honda later listed a 2004 owner’s manual for the CB600F 599, confirming the model-year usage. The nameplate then had a break in availability: Cycle World reported that the bike was quietly sold for 2004, dropped from the 2005 lineup because of weak sales, and brought back for 2006 with updates. That makes the 599 a short-lived but memorable Honda standard in the U.S. market, closely tied to the Hornet 600 sold in other regions and valued by riders for its simple, upright, sporty-roadster character.
