MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the FourTrax Foreman

Honda introduced this utility ATV nameplate in the mid-1990s as a working 4x4 machine, first appearing as the TRX400FW Foreman 400. It was conceived as a tougher, more task-oriented member of Honda’s FourTrax family, aimed at farm, ranch, hunting, and general utility use rather than pure recreation. Over time, the Foreman line grew into one of Honda’s core ATV ranges, and Honda has continued to describe the Foreman as a dependable hard-working machine built for daily chores and trail use alike.

The nameplate has gone through several major eras and mechanical updates while remaining recognizable as the same Foreman utility ATV family. Early models established the Foreman identity with selectable 4x4 utility focus, and later generations brought larger-displacement engines, revised chassis designs, and modern convenience features such as electric shifting and power steering on certain versions. Even with those changes, the Foreman has stayed positioned as Honda’s durable middle-to-upper utility ATV: rugged enough for work, but still intended to be comfortable and versatile for general off-road use.

Honda still markets the Foreman nameplate today, so it should be treated as an active, continuous production line rather than a discontinued model.
