MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the VRSCF / V-ROD MUSCLE

Introduced for the 2010 model year, this V-Rod family variant was Harley-Davidson’s most aggressive factory interpretation of the brand’s power-cruiser formula. It carried the VRSC platform’s liquid-cooled Revolution engine and distinctive performance-oriented chassis into a wider, lower, more visibly muscular package aimed at riders who wanted modern styling rather than traditional cruiser lines. Compared with the earlier V-Rod and Night Rod variants, it emphasized a stripped, drag-influenced stance with broad bodywork, a heavily sculpted tail section, and an unmistakably bold street presence.

The model quickly became known as the high-style counterpart to the rest of the VRSC range, bridging Harley-Davidson’s American cruiser identity with a more contemporary, performance-driven look. It was not a long-running volume seller; instead, it occupied a niche position within the company’s lineup as a specialized motorcycle for enthusiasts drawn to liquid-cooled V-twin engineering and a more radical visual package. Through its production run, Harley-Davidson continued to offer the nameplate as part of the broader V-Rod family, and the model remained recognizable for its planted stance and urban muscle-bike attitude.

Production continued through the 2017 model year, after which the V-Rod line ended and the nameplate disappeared from the regular Harley-Davidson lineup. Because there was no later revival of this exact model nameplate, its history is best understood as a single continuous run from 2010 to 2017, representing the final evolution of the company’s long-running VRSC performance cruiser concept.
