Introduced as part of Harley-Davidson’s all-new Street family, this nameplate was aimed at newer riders and urban commuting, with a low-slung, lightweight cruiser format and the liquid-cooled Revolution X engine. Harley-Davidson launched the Street line in 2014 for the spring 2014 market, and the model appeared in the company’s 2015 model-year materials as the XG500. It quickly became known as one of the brand’s most approachable motorcycles and was commonly used in Harley-Davidson Riding Academy training. The model remained in the Street lineup through the 2020 model year, after which it disappeared from Harley-Davidson’s current motorcycle range. Its significance lies less in outright performance and more in how it expanded the brand’s reach to beginner and city-focused riders, while still carrying Harley-Davidson styling cues and customization potential.
