MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Rocker C

This nameplate was introduced for the 2008 model year as the more chrome-rich companion to Harley-Davidson’s Rocker, part of the company’s Softail-based custom-cruiser lineup. It was built around the same low-slung, hardtail-style Softail architecture, but added a more finished, factory-custom look aimed at riders who wanted the stretched-out styling of a custom bobber without starting from a blank canvas. One of its signature features was the concealed passenger arrangement, which let the bike present as a solo custom while still accommodating two-up riding when needed. That trick seat setup became one of the model’s defining talking points and helped distinguish it from the simpler Rocker variant.

The model was marketed under the Softail family and remained in the lineup through the 2011 model year, giving it a relatively short but clearly defined production run. During that period it sat alongside Harley-Davidson’s other custom-oriented Softail models and was recognized for its dramatic rear-end styling, raked-out stance, and extensive use of chrome and color-matched components. Enthusiasts often remember it as one of Harley-Davidson’s more visually distinctive late-2000s factory customs, especially because it pushed the brand’s traditional cruiser formula in a more radical direction than many of its stablemates.

Although its run was brief, the model is notable for capturing the era when Harley-Davidson was experimenting with bolder, showroom-custom interpretations of the Softail platform. Its combination of show-bike aesthetics and practical two-up capability made it one of the more unusual entries in the company’s modern cruiser history.
