Harley-Davidson revived the Low Rider name for the Dyna family in 2014, returning the badge as a factory street-custom cruiser after a long absence from the U.S. lineup. This modern Dyna-era Low Rider emphasized a low seat height, relaxed ergonomics, and the classic Harley mix of chrome, blacked-out engine finish, and chunky styling cues, while keeping the model rooted in the company’s traditional big-twin cruiser formula. It was positioned as a more custom-looking, rider-friendly alternative within the Dyna range, with the Low Rider name drawing on the heritage of earlier Harley-Davidson performance-cruiser models.
For the 2014 model year, the Low Rider was introduced as a fresh take on the concept rather than a simple carryover from earlier generations. The FXDL103 designation reflects the Twin Cam 103 era, and that version carried through the rest of the Dyna run. Over its production life, the model retained its core identity as a low-slung, mid-sized V-twin cruiser with a strong enthusiast following for its combination of classic looks and everyday rideability.
The Dyna family was retired after the 2017 model year, and Harley-Davidson carried the Low Rider name forward into the redesigned Softail lineup for 2018 under a new model code. As a result, the FXDL103 / Low Rider exists as a distinct Dyna-era nameplate tied to the 2014 through 2017 production period.
