This Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide nameplate has appeared in more than one distinct production era, rather than as a single uninterrupted model run. The first version arrived for the 2009 model year as a limited-production Custom Vehicle Operations bagger based on the Road Glide platform, giving Harley-Davidson’s fixed-fairing touring design an even more exclusive factory-custom treatment. The name returned in 2012 as the CVO Road Glide Custom, again positioned as a premium, high-spec touring machine with a stronger emphasis on custom style and audio-luxury appeal. A later evolution followed in 2015 and 2016 under the CVO Road Glide Ultra name, which added a more long-distance touring focus while keeping the Road Glide’s distinctive shark-nose silhouette. After that, the nameplate disappeared for several years before being revived for 2023, when Harley-Davidson reintroduced the CVO Road Glide with a thoroughly updated design, modern electronics, and a more integrated custom-bagger look. Because the nameplate has been discontinued and later brought back, it should be treated as a multi-period model history rather than one continuous production span. The model remains part of Harley-Davidson’s CVO lineup today.
