MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the CVO Fat Bob 2

This factory-custom Dyna variant was introduced for the 2010 model year as Harley-Davidson’s second-year CVO Fat Bob, identified in factory literature as FXDFSE2. It carried forward the low-slung Fat Bob stance and aggressive styling of the standard model, but with the higher-spec Custom Vehicle Operations treatment that Harley reserved for limited-production, premium motorcycles. In Harley-Davidson’s own 2010 parts and owner documentation, FXDFSE2 appears as a distinct model line rather than a simple trim package, underscoring its short-run, special-edition status.

The CVO Fat Bob was part of Harley-Davidson’s long-running CVO program, which was used to showcase the company’s most individualized paint, finish, and equipment combinations. For enthusiasts, the 2010 version is notable because it represents the final year of the original CVO Fat Bob run under the FXDFSE2 designation. It sits at an interesting point in Harley-Davidson history: close enough to the mainstream Dyna family to share the Fat Bob’s basic shape and character, but exclusive enough to be remembered as one of the more collectible factory-custom Dyna specials of its era. It should not be confused with the regular production Fat Bob models that continued in other years under different designations.
