This Harley-Davidson nameplate first appeared in 1993 as the Heritage Softail Nostalgia, a nostalgia-themed Softail built around classic full-dress cruiser styling. It used the FLSTN code for a short early run in the mid-1990s, then disappeared after 1996. The designation returned in 2005 on a very different motorcycle, the Softail Deluxe, which carried the same FLSTN code but represented a revival of the same retro-inspired idea rather than a direct carryover of the original bike. In that second life, the model leaned heavily into chrome, whitewalls, and vintage boulevard-cruiser cues, becoming one of Harley-Davidson’s most distinctive Softail variants. The FLSTN remained in production through the 2017 model year. For 2018, Harley-Davidson reorganized the Softail lineup and replaced the FLSTN Deluxe with the FLDE Deluxe designation, ending the FLSTN nameplate’s second production period.
