MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the FLD103 / Switchback

Introduced for the 2012 model year, this Harley-Davidson nameplate was positioned as a crossover between a cruiser and a light touring motorcycle. It was marketed as a convertible Dyna model, using detachable saddlebags and a detachable windshield to move between stripped-down riding and more relaxed highway use. That dual-purpose concept set it apart within Harley-Davidson’s lineup, where most Dyna models leaned more clearly toward traditional cruiser styling. The model is also notable for carrying the FLD designation, a code more commonly associated with Harley-Davidson’s larger FL touring family, which helped underline its touring intent even though it was built on the Dyna platform. It remained in production through the 2016 model year and then ended without a later revival.
