MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Purosangue

Introduced for the 2023 model year, this Ferrari marked a major turning point for Maranello as the brand’s first-ever four-door, four-seat production car. It was unveiled in September 2022 after years of anticipation, and Ferrari chose the name Purosangue, Italian for “thoroughbred,” to emphasize that it was intended to remain a true Ferrari rather than a conventional utility vehicle. Production began in 2022, with customer deliveries starting in 2023.

Historically, the model fits into a long Ferrari tradition of 2+2 grand tourers and practical front-engined cars, but it also broke new ground by combining that usability with the company’s modern performance-focused design language. The body style and packaging were new for Ferrari, yet the car was positioned as a sports car first, not as a departure from the marque’s core identity. Ferrari presented it as a unique expression of comfort, performance, and driving involvement, aimed at customers who wanted more everyday versatility without giving up the character associated with the badge.

The nameplate has no earlier or separate production era; this is the original and only production run so far. It remains part of Ferrari’s current lineup, so no final model year can be confirmed at this time.
