The Story of the Diavel/XDiavel

Ducati introduced this family in 2011 with the original Diavel, a motorcycle that deliberately blended sportbike performance, naked-bike attitude, and cruiser influence into one distinctive package. It quickly stood out for its long, low stance and unusual mix of Ducati styling and power-cruiser proportions, giving the brand a new kind of halo machine outside its core superbike and naked-bike lines.

The XDiavel followed in 2016 as a related but more cruiser-leaning interpretation of the same idea. Ducati positioned it with a different riding posture and a stronger emphasis on relaxed highway use while keeping the company’s performance-and-design identity intact. In that sense, the Diavel/XDiavel nameplate represents an evolving family rather than a discontinued model that was later revived.

Across its life, the family has become one of Ducati’s most recognizable modern design statements. It helped define the company’s entry into the power-cruiser space and has remained notable for pairing Italian styling with an aggressive, high-performance character that set it apart from traditional cruisers.
