Ducati introduced this nameplate for the 2009 model year as a naked performance motorcycle derived from the 1098 superbike family. The original machine arrived with the stripped-down “Fight Formula” concept that became central to the line: aggressive styling, a high and wide handlebar, and a focus on road use without abandoning Ducati’s track-bred character. Ducati’s own heritage and electronics material describe the 2009 Streetfighter 1100 as a notable milestone, including the first motorcycle headlight LED application from the company.
The first production era continued through the early 2010s and expanded to include the Streetfighter 848, which broadened the range with a more accessible twin-cylinder variant while keeping the same essential naked superbike identity. After that original family disappeared from the lineup, Ducati later revived the nameplate in a new form for 2020 with the Streetfighter V4, transforming the concept around the Panigale V4 platform and reestablishing it as a flagship super-naked. Ducati then expanded the revived family with the Streetfighter V2 in 2022, giving the nameplate a second modern branch.
Because the nameplate has had distinct production periods separated by a gap, the history should be read as an original Streetfighter era followed by a later revival, rather than one uninterrupted run.
