MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Intrepid

This Canadian-market LH sedan debuted for the 1993 model year as part of Chrysler’s cab-forward family of large front-wheel-drive cars. It was closely related to the other LH models of the era and helped establish the bold, aerodynamic design language that Chrysler used to revive its image in the 1990s. The original version ran through the 1997 model year, after which a thoroughly revised second-generation car arrived for 1998 with updated styling, improved packaging, and a broader spread of trims and powertrains aimed at both retail buyers and fleet customers. Throughout its run, the car occupied Chrysler’s mainstream large-sedan space in Canada and remained one of the more distinctive domestic sedans of its time. Production ended after the 2004 model year, closing out the LH chapter before Chrysler moved to its rear-wheel-drive LX-era replacements.
