The Story of the Grand Caravan

The Grand Caravan name has deep roots in Chrysler minivan history in Canada, where it became a familiar family vehicle over several decades. In its modern Chrysler-branded form, the nameplate was relaunched for the 2021 model year as a Canada-only Chrysler minivan positioned as a value-focused alternative to the Pacifica. Chrysler describes it as starting production in 2021 and notes that it is an updated, modernized minivan built on the Pacifica platform, with Canadian assembly and an emphasis on practical family use.

This newer era of the Grand Caravan is not the same vehicle as the long-running Dodge Grand Caravan, which was discontinued after the 2020 model year. Chrysler’s Canadian lineup has since continued the Grand Caravan name on a distinct Chrysler-badged minivan, carrying the model through subsequent model years. The vehicle’s identity centers on everyday utility: spacious seating, flexible cargo packaging, and familiar Chrysler minivan features such as Stow ’n Go seating.

Historically, the Grand Caravan badge is part of the broader North American Chrysler minivan story that began with the original 1984 Caravan family, but the exact Chrysler Grand Caravan nameplate in its current marketed form dates to 2021 in Canada. That makes its modern production run a separate chapter from earlier Caravan and Grand Caravan usage under other brand badges.
