Introduced for the 2011 model year, this midsize sedan replaced the earlier midsize Chrysler offering and became the brand’s mainstream four-door car in the U.S. market. Its early years carried over a familiar front-wheel-drive layout and a practical, value-oriented mission, but the nameplate was given a much more ambitious second act with a thorough redesign for 2015. That later version moved the car upmarket in appearance and content, with a more upscale cabin, a stronger emphasis on style, and a modernized chassis that aimed to make the sedan more competitive against the class leaders of the day. The model was offered in both sedan and, at least early on, convertible form, giving it a broader identity than many rivals. Despite the effort invested in the redesign, the nameplate’s run was relatively short-lived. Production ended after the 2017 model year, and the car was discontinued as the brand shifted focus away from midsize sedans. Today it is remembered as one of the more important modern attempts by the marque to reassert itself in the family-sedan segment, especially because the 2015 redesign marked a clear break from the car’s earlier, more conservative roots.
