BRP introduced the DS youth ATV nameplate for the 2006 model year, beginning with the DS 90 and DS 50. The line was built as an entry point for younger riders, using small-displacement, single-cylinder four-stroke and two-stroke machines with youth-focused sizing, automatic drivetrains, and safety-oriented features. For 2008, the family evolved into the DS 70 and DS 90, and BRP later added higher-capacity variants such as the DS 90 X and DS 250. Over time, the DS range became Can-Am’s dedicated youth ATV lineup, positioned as a stepping stone into off-road riding rather than a single performance model. It has remained part of the brand’s ATV offerings through the current model year, with the nameplate continuing as an active youth series rather than a discontinued or revived badge.
