It sits above the 530e in the hybrid lineup and pairs the 5 Series’ modern sedan body with BMW’s latest eDrive plug-in hybrid system and xDrive all-wheel drive, reflecting the brand’s move to offer the 5 Series with gasoline, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric drivetrains in the same generation. The nameplate is associated with the current G60-era 5 Series and has become the top electrified non-M 5 Series sedan in markets where it is offered. Because it remains in production, there is no final model year yet.
