The Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato was a limited-edition special based on the second-generation Vanquish and created through Aston Martin’s long-running collaboration with Italian design house Zagato. The nameplate first appeared in 2016, when the Vanquish Zagato Coupe was revealed and customer deliveries began in December of that year. Aston Martin positioned it as a highly exclusive, coachbuilt-style interpretation of the Vanquish S, rather than a separate mainstream model line.
The Vanquish Zagato story continued through a small family of related body styles. After the coupe, Aston Martin added the open Vanquish Zagato Volante, then expanded the range in 2017 with the roofless Speedster and the practical-but-still-limited Shooting Brake. In total, the Vanquish Zagato family was capped at 325 cars worldwide, with each derivative built in very small numbers and sold out quickly.
Stylistically, the car was important because it revived the Aston Martin-Zagato partnership in a modern, unified series for the first time. Earlier collaborations between the two names had produced one-off and low-volume specials, but the Vanquish Zagato line took that relationship further by applying a shared design language across multiple body styles. That made it especially significant to collectors and enthusiasts: it combined the Vanquish platform’s grand touring character with a more dramatic, distinctly Italian-influenced body treatment.
Production and deliveries ran through 2018, after which the Vanquish Zagato nameplate ended as a one-time limited series. It is remembered as one of the most desirable modern Aston Martin special editions, bridging the traditional coachbuilt era and the brand’s contemporary limited-run halo cars.
