Aprilia introduced the Shiver 750 in 2007 as a major step in its modern streetbike lineup. It was positioned as a middleweight naked motorcycle with a distinctly Italian character, aimed at riders who wanted a sharp, contemporary alternative to more conventional twins. The Shiver marked an important turning point for Aprilia because it helped establish the brand’s new-generation road models after years of stronger emphasis on smaller sport bikes and race-derived machines.
The bike’s original identity was built around a compact, upright chassis and Aprilia’s then-new 750cc V-twin platform, which later also underpinned the Dorsoduro. Over its life, the Shiver evolved through detail updates rather than radical reinvention, and Aprilia offered it in several market configurations, including ABS-equipped versions and a touring-oriented GT variant in some markets. That flexibility helped it appeal to both everyday riders and enthusiasts who wanted something more distinctive than the typical Japanese middleweight.
The Shiver 750 remained in production through the 2016 model year, after which it was replaced by the larger Shiver 900 for 2017. As a result, the 750 is best remembered as the original, first-generation Shiver: a stylish, characterful naked bike that helped define Aprilia’s modern road-going identity and became one of the brand’s most recognizable non-racing motorcycles.
