Aprilia’s RST Futura was the company’s sport-touring flagship of the early 2000s, developed during a period when the Italian brand was expanding beyond lightweight two-strokes into larger-capacity street motorcycles. The nameplate was introduced for the 2001 model year and paired Aprilia’s liter-class V-twin hardware with full touring bodywork and integrated luggage, giving the bike a distinctly long-distance character while still keeping the sharp, performance-focused feel associated with the brand.
The Futura sat in a niche between pure sportbike and traditional touring machine. It was designed for riders who wanted real-world comfort and weather protection without giving up the handling and engine personality of Aprilia’s performance models.
